Officials saying they didn’t think it was a good idea for the president to cooperate so much. Others, like chief of staff Mark Meadows, note they weren’t in the White House when that decision was made.

@MeetThePress @NBCNews And on March 19 Trump told Woodward privately in an interview that he intentionally played down the virus. “I always wanted to play it down. I still do. I don’t want to create panic,” he said, according to the book and audio that's been released.

@MeetThePress @NBCNews Trump went on to hold a handful of Feb campaign rallies with supporters packed indoors. He traveled to India along with dozens of government employees and journalists who flew on commercial aircraft. Overall he publicly minimized the virus, predicting it would disappear.
