RT @tracygreen: @weijia My niece is married to a Vet with TBI and he’s now disabled and has many mental health issues after being injured in Afghanistan. He didn’t get a limb blown off ... but in some ways it’s worse. He’s erratic, can’t work and the ups and downs are very hard on his family.

Minimizing TBI is a disservice to service members and their families who put everything on the line. Imagine giving your short term memory, your mental health or your ability to think clearly in service of your country. Then imagine someone dismissing it as a headache.

One combat vet missing a leg told me last month that people frequently thank him for his service but he feels bad his friends with TBI or PTSD don’t receive the same affirmation.

Combat vets I’ve interviewed who are missing limbs or have other readily apparent physical injuries often bring up how much their friends with TBI suffer, specifically because their injuries are severe yet invisible. https://t.co/0ytA4FLKyp

Been spending my free moments listening to Monster: DC Sniper. I’ve never fully grasped what my DC/MD/VA colleagues lived through during this time and to hear it told by one of my favorites voices - I’m so appreciative of your work on this @TweetTonyHarris. https://t.co/LEdvhkBYOa
